All the photographers hadn’t even been in the same room since the last Magnum Annual General Meeting in Paris. So, Sunday night, the group ordered way too much pizza (Chester Cab Pizza on Park Ave; the veggie slice hit the spot), bought a couple of six-packs and sat in the kitchen to discuss the task at hand: documenting the city of Rochester. It was Susan who said it first—“The legacy of Kodak is everywhere. It’s hidden, but if you look for it, you realize that it permeates everything.” All the photographers agreed; the challenge would be how to visualize it. With that thought swirling around their heads, everyone finished their beers and went to bed.
